Operation: Cutify Office Space

I'm at work more than I'm at home (aren't we all?!), so I decided to add some fanciness to my office.  So, I hit my favorite shopping spots for decorations: Hobby Lobby, Ross, Gordman's, and Kirkland's.  I added a little paint to some of the items and headed up to work on a Saturday to begin my project.  I also begged and pleaded with David to come with me so he could hang things.  He's a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to hanging things on the wall.  I tend to just "eye" it and hang it.  He, on the other hand, uses a level.  HA!

I decided to go with a navy and brown color scheme.  I also have leopard desk accessories that I've had for a while, so they go with these colors.

I found this piece at Hobby Lobby.  It was 1/2 off because it was metal and it was also a little banged up.  I knew I would be painting it (it started out brown), so I went ahead and got it even with the dents and scratches.  The cashier took it upon herself to take an additional percentage off so I ended up only paying about ten bucks for it!  SCORE!  I, well actually David because I completely suck at spray painting, painted it several coats of this gorgeous blue.  I love how it turned out!

I found these at Kirkland's in the clearance sections - $6 each!  I got 2 and hung on either side of the above metal piece.

I had this ladder shelf in my garage with outdoor shoes and such on it.  I did have it in our old house but when we moved, it got a little bent out of shape so I never brought it back in.  It's perfect for the office!  (The outside shoes and everything that was on it have not found a new home yet)

The leopard ball is from Kirkland's.  I know these usually go in a bowl or something but I kinda like this look.  The orange "Keep Calm and Carry On" came from Gordman's for $5!!  The other side says "Now Panic and Freak Out" - I love this!

I had the frame on the left so I just spray painted it blue.  I found the frame on the right at Ross for 4 bucks.  It was originally purple.

This came from Hobby Lobby.  It was actually in the spring outside decor.  Glad I went down that aisle!

Blue trinket box from Gordman's and gold candle hold from Ross.

Ok - this heart birdcage was originally a "country" green and had a pink looking bird with some straw inside of it.  It was very "southwestern" looking.  My mom used to have it in her house and she put it in our last garage sale.  Speaking of garage sale, I also got these from her.  I stole it and ripped all of the inside stuff out, painted it and will eventually figure out what to put inside of it.  I want to put some type of leopard material in the bottom and then put that led candle on top of the material.  I have yet to do that but I have big plans.

This is one of those holders that photo albums come it...like a little gift set.  I kept this holder for some reason.  Glad I did!  It matches perfectly and looks like a bookend....or something like that.

I THINK this came from Hobby Lobby....I can't remember.  Maybe Kirkland's.

Got this at Hobby Lobby...love it!

  4. I love the fleur de lie stuff! It's so classic and beautiful.

I'm also a big fan of buying the "damaged" items at the store. They're rarely noticeable!

I'm visiting from the blog hop. :-)

  5. Well, it's a great idea that you've “added some fanciness” to your home office. And those are pretty and ornate artsy objects you got there. I wonder how it looks like when they're already placed in the room. Please show us the whole office with those artwork. :) Thanks.

Loving Lately: My Discovery of MAC Cosmetics

I am 29 years young and I have JUST discovered MAC.  Yes, it's true.  I have apparently been living under a rock.  In a bubble.  Something!!  I ran out of foundation this weekend and decided to give it a try.  And O.M.G. I am so glad I did.  Ok - here are my face issues... 1. Oily Eyelids - eyeshadow creases within an hour...not fun. 2. Oily Face - makeup disappears and the shine is outta control...not fun either!! 3. Acne Scars - the dark spot kind...ugh!  4. Acne - why do I have acne at 29???  It just isn't fair to have to use acne treatment AND an anti-aging cream!!  I went to the MAC counter with absolutely no makeup on whatsoever....I was not lookin' pretty!  They were having a special event to market their "after hours" collection  and there was a model there with her husband who is apparently a famous NBA basketball player from the LA Clippers.  I guess I should've gotten a picture but I was more focused on getting some makeup on my fac

TRIA Hair Removal Laser

Ok...I'm just going to jump right into this.  Let's talk about hair.  I'm not talking about the hair on your head that you want people to see and love.  I'm talking about the unwanted hair that you loathe and want noone to see!  Embarrassing subject?  Yep!!  I have a medical condition called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) that has many, many side effects that makes it extremely difficult to get preggers but that's another subject we won't get into right now.  One of the most annoying effects being facial hair!!  There, I said it.  Since high school I've had to deal with this embarrassing situation.  Back then, I hated it and I would cry because I thought I was the only one dealing with this.  Now that I'm older (and wiser), I can laugh about it.  And the more I talk to people about it, the more I realize women everywhere are dealing with this "lady with the beard" issue.  I seriously could join a circus, people.  Ok, maybe it's not t
