TRIA Hair Removal Laser

Ok...I'm just going to jump right into this.  Let's talk about hair.  I'm not talking about the hair on your head that you want people to see and love.  I'm talking about the unwanted hair that you loathe and want noone to see!  Embarrassing subject?  Yep!!

I have a medical condition called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) that has many, many side effects that makes it extremely difficult to get preggers but that's another subject we won't get into right now.  One of the most annoying effects being facial hair!!  There, I said it.  Since high school I've had to deal with this embarrassing situation.  Back then, I hated it and I would cry because I thought I was the only one dealing with this.  Now that I'm older (and wiser), I can laugh about it.  And the more I talk to people about it, the more I realize women everywhere are dealing with this "lady with the beard" issue.  I seriously could join a circus, people.  Ok, maybe it's not that bad but you get the idea.

About two years ago, I discovered laser hair removal.  I had heard of it before, but always thought it was crazy expensive and that I would never be able to afford it.  Well, it IS expensive.  But these days, it seems like every day there are different Groupons and such going on for laser hair removal.  So about two years ago, I purchased a six treatment plan from Groupon for a local medi-spa/salon.  And OMG I was so glad I did!!  Why hadn't I done this sooner??  It worked!  I no longer had to pluck every. single. night.  Yay!!  But then, my six treatments were over and I never did any maintenance.  They recommend going back about every 3-4 months just for touch-ups.  I didn't.  And low and behold, the damn whiskers, as I like to call them, came back.  Fail.

So - I've been dealing with the plucking, waxing, and trying to hide my chin while in the sun (because we all know the sunlight shows EVERY little hair) for about a year now.  One night, while I couldn't sleep, I was watching QVC and the new "Today's Special Value" came on.  I'm pretty sure they were talking directly to me during their presentation.  I just know it.

It was for the TRIA Hair Removal Laser.  The price didn't appeal to me at first ($400), but when I thought about it, I already spent $100 on six treatments and needed it again and will probably need it again because my horomones are whack.  So, I could either keep getting Groupons, making appointments, and going to the spa OR I could have this forever, do any area I wanted, and do it in my own home in five to ten minutes.  EASY decision.  So, I splurged.

I am in love.  There are five settings, 1 to 5.  The first time I used 3 and the last two times, I've used 4.  So, I've only used it 3 times and I already notice a HUGE difference!!  I will probably put it on 5 next time just to get the stubborn ones.  It does sting a little but only for a second.  I did one little "zap" on David's beard (not where anyone would notice) just so he would know what it feels like and he said he could still feel the "electricity" five minutes later.  Ummm...I don't think so!  Men are such babies!!

I am so glad I made this big purchase.  I can't wait to get the final results and know that if I need any touch-up work, all it takes is a walk to my bathroom and a couple minutes of some laser time.

So go check it out on QVC or Amazon.  I was really surprised to learn that QVC has so many beauty products including Sugar, Laura Geller, Philosophy, Smashbox and so many others!!

Now that I've told the world I have facial hair, I feel like we've bonded and I feel so much more closer to you all!  Nothing like a good talk about whiskers! :)

  1. Thank you for sharing this! I know many girls out there, including myself, deal with this same issue! I feel like I constantly have little scabs on my chin because of plucking. I have PCOS too and the facial hair is just madness. I went to laser therapy at a dermatologist and went for maybe 4 months in a row but didn't keep up so they came back. It was awesome to have that freedom though all of a sudden! I'm definitely gonna look into this. Thanks for sharing :) I'm glad you found something that helps you!

  2. I am soooooo glad you posted this!!! About 5 years ago, I spent over $1000 getting laser hair removal (5 sessions underarms, 6 sessions bikini) and like you, never went back for maintainance. I should've went back about oh ... 4 1/2 years ago, LOL!! I keep seeing the Groupons, but also, don't want to spend the money and have to keep going back. I saw the Tria a few years ago, and wondered if it worked. I'm glad to know that it DOES! I figured the price tag would pay for itself, knowing I could use it anywhere, my Hubs could use it ... that's just wonderful! I was reading about one just yesterday (Remington) that was only about $250, but the bulbs wore out after 2-3 uses, and you had to keep buying bulbs (I believe they were about $40, can't rememnber though). Any other costs for the Tria? We'll have to talk more about this, I'm SOOOO interested!!!! Thank you again, for posting this!!! :)

  4. I'm impressed, I have to admit. Seldom do I encounter a blog that's both educative and
entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head.
The problem is something too few folks are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy I came across this during my search
    for something concerning this.

Halloween Treats

For work gifts this year, I used these free printables  and these free printables  to make these cute little treats!  I had a lot of fun making them.  I dragged my poor mom and David around to so many stores looking for different colored Tic Tacs and eyeball candy.  I wanted very badly to make the Vampire Vitamins...who knew it would be so hard to find red Tic Tacs! I also made this easy Halloween Bark. What You Need:   1 Package Halloween Oreos Candy Corn 2 Packages Wilton Candy Melts in White Halloween Sprinkles - I ended up using different sprinkles than the ones in the picture...a girl has a right to change her mind, right? Pretzels - I stole these out of our Trick-or-Treat bowl because I felt like it needed something to offset all the sweetness. 1. Crumble up the Oreos.  I crushed some by hand, some in my food processor and broke some in halves and some in fourths.  Spread out on cookie sheet over wax/parchment paper.  Sprinkle candy corn

Nail Files and a Giveaway

Today I'm linking up with Tara and Vicki  for their fabulous linkup party, The Nail Files. Essie : Turquoise and Caicos Julep : Ivy Annnnd...I'm doing something a little special for my readers today - a nail polish giveaway!!  I am admittedly copying Christina over at Easily Entertained .  :) She recently did a nail polish giveaway (that I missed out on..boo) and I thought what a GREAT way to get rid of some of my overflowing collection of polishes!!! You will win 8 bottles of nail polish including brands: OPI, CHI, Ulta, Avon, 2 Glitter Pots from Julep, and an Ulta Lipgloss! I apologize for the lighting - I will try to get a better picture and upload it. All of these polishes are slightly used (maybe 2 or 3 times) except for the CHI brand and the green Ulta one - those have never been used.  The glitter pots and the lipgloss are also brand spankin' new. a Rafflecopter giveaway
