I was on this blog today and she was talking about how women spend so much money on wedding dresses. It reminded me of my wedding and then I realized I've never blogged about it!!! It's already been a year and half and I still haven't even scrapbooked it!!! Where does the time go?
Ok...to the dress. I knew exactly what I wanted. I wanted it to be short, satin, and a "pick-up" style dress. I looked around at David's Bridal and other stores but I just couldn't see spending more than $100 on my dress. (I've been married before and had the big, fancy wedding - and we see how well that worked out!!) So this time, I wanted a small wedding and didn't want to spend much. I walked into Ross one day looking for something else and decided to walk through the dresses to look for a dress for my sis, the MOH. It was like the clouds opened up and the angels were singing and the sun beamed down on this dress.
You can't really tell from this pic, but it is a shiny, satin...EXACTLY what I wanted!! And it was only NINE DOLLARS!!! SCORE!!!
I had ordered this Batman garter from Etsy because David loves Batman. Well he pretty much thinks he's Batman but I just don't have the heart to tell him otherwise.

I sent my mom a pic of the garter and she said we should have a Batman colored wedding. I said there is NO WAY I am having a bumble bee wedding. Well, I started searching for black and yellow weddings online and actually found some really pretty ideas. So, I went to all my favorite craft stores and made most of my decorations!

My pride and joy...Custom shoes from Nina Shoes. I spent about $175 on these lovelies but I got my jewelry at $1 Jewelry Galore! It's all about balance, right??

and all the decor for the sign-in table (except for flower arrangement - a friend made this for the shower and gave it to me. And also the clipboard - I had a friend make this to use for our "guest book")

David did help with this pen holder. I took a cheap mardi gras necklace and tore the beads off to use inside the pen holder. Way cheaper than using actual beads.

I ordered this wine bag from Etsy.

I added some black and yellow ribbon to our toasting flutes and serving pieces. That way you can just buy the cheap ones and cutify them with ribbon!!

I bought some cheap baskets, spray painted them and added some ribbon and flowers.

I made the favors. I bought the cheap, clear tubes of bubbles, ordered some clear and black damask packing tape and wrapped them with it. They turned out really cute! Then I went to the candy store and bought yellow and white Sixlets (remember this candy) and wrapped them in black tulle.

We had the wedding and reception at Inspirations Tea Room in Edmond, Oklahoma. It was absolutely beautiful there. Perfect for a small, outdoor wedding. We had the reception in the sunroom and we even stayed there in the Bed and Breakfast called Two Hearts Inn.
We didn't have a first dance or a bouquet toss because we had such a small wedding. I'm sure there were other traditions that we didn't do, but I wouldn't change it for anything!
Don't forget to enter my Scentsy giveaway!! It ends in one day!!
