Nail Polish Makes Me Happy!

I admit, I have a problem when it comes to nail polish...I'm just *a little* addicted!!  I have this small, glittery, pink Caboodle that I've had since jr. high - I had even ordered a gold plate with my name engraved in it to stick on the top - that I've always kept my polish in.  Well, it was overflowing so I had to suck it up and go buy a bigger one, which is getting scary close to overflowing too!  Yes, a 29 year old went to the store and purchased a bright pink Caboodle.  *gasp*  Whatevs...I have no shame and I happen to ♥ my teeny bopper box of fun!!  Don't judge :)

Here are my nails this week...

Zoya in Pippa - I picked this up in the clearance section at Ulta for 3 bucks!!
Sinful Colors in All About You

That lasted one day until I got bored with it!  What can I say...a girl's gotta have variety!
I painted over the gold with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Wet Cement
Then I painted over all my nails with Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Diamonds - I absolutely love this line.  Can you tell by the half empty bottle??  I have almost every color.  It makes my nail so strong!

Meet my new FAVORITE top coat.  I found this through stalking some fellow bloggers :)  I am in LOVE with this stuff!!  You know when you go get your nails done in the salon and they put the top coat on (usually in a brown bottle with no label) and it makes your nails super shiny, dry fast, and last forever?!?!  Well, I'm not sure if this is the same stuff, but it's pretty freakin' close!!  I made a special trip to Ulta just for this!

Oh, How Pinteresting!

Today, I'm linking up with Michelle at The Vintage Apple for her weekly Link Up, Oh How Pinteresting.  This post will be my "ode to Batman" since the new Dark Knight movie recently came out, the hubs has seen it twice (once with me and once by himself - I could never go to a movie by myself) and we are going again this Sunday night, oh AND I'm married to Batman.  I should really explain this whole Batman thing but that's another day - another post!  I'm quite excited about going to the movies this weekend because we are going to a drive-in theater!!!  It will be my first!

Beauty Time Tuesday

During my last shopping trip to Ulta, I scored with some *great* samples...who doesn't love a good sample?!?!  I tried this Biolage Exquisite Oil Replenishing Treatment tonight and I will be purchasing the big bottle fo sho!!

Why I heart it...
1. The smell.  I love love love the smell of Biolage.  It reminds me of my mom - she is addicted to Biolage products :)
2. It wasn't greasy like some oils on the market.
3. There is shampoo and conditioner in the same "Exquisite Oil" line.  I appreciate brands with matching products...they make me happy :)
4. I applied this with my hands and I rubbed the remaining product into my cuticles...BONUS!!  It soaked in very fast and wasn't oily.

What fun samples have you tried lately??

Salted Caramel Butter Bars

We had our summer neighborhood BBQ this past Sunday so I decided to try out a recipe I got from a friend.  These were so easy!  The hardest thing about this recipe was finding caramel...who would've thought??  David and I went to 4 stores before finding individually packaged caramels!  BUT it was definitely worth it :)

For Crust
1lb. salted butter - room temp
1 C. sugar
1 1/4 C. powdered sugar
2 T. vanilla
4 C. all-purpose flour

For Filling
1 bag 14 oz. caramel candies - unwrapped
1/3 C. milk or cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 T. course sea salt

Crust
1. Preheat oven to 325°.  Combine butter and sugars in large bowl.
2. Mix on medium speed until creamy.  Add vanilla and combine.
3. Sift the flour into butter mixture and beat on low speed until smooth, soft dough forms.
4. Spray 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray.  Press 1/3 of the dough into pan evenly to form bottom crust.
5. Bake until firm and the edges are pale golden brown - 20 minutes.  Let cool about 15 minutes.  Chill remaining dough.

Filling
1. Place caramels in microwave-safe bowl.  Add vanilla and cream.  Microwave on high for 1 minute.  Remove from microwave and stir until smooth.  *may have to continue to microwave for 30 second intervals*
2. Pour caramel over crust.  Sprinkle with salt.
3. Remove chilled dough and crumble over caramel.
4. Bake until filling is bubbly - about 25-30 minutes.
5. Let cool and cut into squares.
**I had extra mini chocolate chips left over from this recipe so I through them on top as soon as I got them out of the oven.

Today, I'm linking up with Jam Hands for Recipe Sharing Monday!  Check her out and get some new recipes while you're there!!

Beauty Box Reveal!!

First I want to thank Tiffany at Blabbering Thoughts for hosting this fun beauty swap.  Also want to thank Megan and Andrea for co-hosting with her!!

Blabbering Thoughts

I finally received my package after a loooonngg week of waiting ... gotta love snail mail!!  The first swap I did, my package to someone got lost and now this time the package to me got lost!!  Maybe I should stop doing swaps....yea right! :)

It was definitely worth the wait though...Cassie @ Overuse I Love You hooked me up!!  Look at everything I got!!

  • LA Colors Eyeshadow in Lotus.  I've seen this brand before and have been wanting to try it out.  I love trying new eyeshadow colors - my favorite color in this trio is the pink!  How fun!
  • Wet n Wild Fast Dry Nail Polish in How I Met Your Magenta.  This color was so perdy!  It had almost a gold shimmer to it.  I painted my nails with it as soon as I opened up my package and it was dry by the time I got done taking pics!
  • Two Nail Files (which I NEEDED).  I love the bright blue and pink colors.  Not that it really matters if they match or not, but I love how she color coordinated the polish, eyeshadow, and nail files.  It's the little things :)
  • LA Colors Lipgloss in Clearly Said.  I've been needing a good clear lipgloss and this is very moisturizing as well as super shiny.
  • A CUTE CUTE necklace - it says Live Laugh Love - the camera on my phone wasn't cooperating and wouldn't focus.  Guess I should actually use my fancy camera, huh?  And, if I stalked her correctly on the internet...she MADE it!!  Go check her store out here.

And look at that cute little basket she sent the nail polish and necklace in!!!  Thank you so much, Cassie, for spoiling me with all of my new beauty products!!  Go show her some love here!!

BarkBox

Yesterday, Groupon had a deal going for $35 for 3 months of BarkBox.  What is BarkBox you may ask.  Well, let me tell you!!  It's a monthly subscription delivered right to your door full of doggy treats and doggy toys!!  Much like BirchBox for us beauty addicts!!  Plus, 10% of the sales go towards a local rescue group.

I had heard of it before but when I saw the Groupon, I just HAD to get it for my little Ally Girl!  For some reason, we started calling her that and it stuck.  She has about 5 *CHEEEEESY* nicknames but I won't even go there! :)  How could I resist this face?!?!  Ok - she's about 50 pounds bigger than this now, but she STILL has the best puppy dog face I've ever seen!

I can't wait to get my Ally's first box of treats!!  Want to order your pooch some monthly goodness??  Click here and your dog will thank you!!

Beauty Time Tuesday

Recently, I found this tip on Pinterest and I just HAD to share.  This may be a little TMI but I'm ok with that....I normally have to shave my legs EVERY SINGLE day to keep them smooth.  I swear my hair grows 1/4 of an inch over night.  (ok - not that much - but you get the point)  And let's be honest, I'm lucky if I shave 3 times a week!  My apologies go out to my dear hubby for my laziness.  Sorry babe!  The ONLY person I know that shaves her legs every night is my mom.  She seriously NEVER misses a night.  Crazy, I know!!  Unfortunately, I didn't inherit that OCD gene from her.  Stacks of paper are always straight and shoes lined up - but legs are not shaven every night.  :)

I tried this trick out last Thursday night and my legs were smooth until tonight and still, they really weren't that bad.  Five Days!  FIVE!!!!  Drum Roll, please...

What you'll need....
Shave Gel
Razor
Sugar Scrub - you can make your own by mixing sugar and olive oil

I normally just use left over conditioner to shave with so I ran out and bought this Skintimate Flirty Mango Shave Gel.  It smells amazing!  I also had this Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub on hand.  By the way, I LOVE this stuff.  If you haven't tried it, you need to.  It smells like coconut and makes my skin feels silky smooth.  I also used a disposable Gillette Venus Sensitive razor.  I've never been big on the razors that you keep forever and just change the heads.  I'd rather just throw the whole thing away and start fresh with a new one.  Plus, I like to change up my razor color :)

After being in the shower for at least 3 minutes (supposedly, this softens the hair and makes it easier to shave or something), lather on the shave gel and shave.  Now here's the important part that makes all the difference...  After shaving with the shave gel, rinse and apply your sugar scrub then shave again.  Yes...shave WITH the scrub on.  You'll have to rinse your razor often when doing this.  Now rinse off the scrub and enjoy your smooth gams!!

What fun beauty tips have you tried and loved??

Tulsa Trip - lululemon

As some of you know, I have a recent addiction to hot yoga.  Before my thumb issue, I would go to class at least 2 or 3 times a week.  Since starting yoga, I learned about this line of yoga wear called lululemon.  The closest store to us was in Tulsa so of course, I had to stop by while we were on our mini vaca this weekend.  It's on the more expensive side but after trying it on in the store for the first time....OMG I can totally see why!  It's for sure not your average yoga pant or top...the material was like silk!!  It was so flowy (is that a word) and soft, I didn't want to take it off!!!

I NEED this outfit!!!  I loved loved loved this top!!  I took notes of my sizes so maybe my dear hubby will purchase this for me for Christmas!!  *hint hint*

Their store was so cute!  It wasn't a full retail store - it was called a showroom because it was smaller.  But I thought it was just the right size.  Any bigger, and I would've been overwhelmed!

I loved these stairs ... I want some stairs to stencil on!

So many cute clothes.

The 2 girls working were super sweet and helpful!

I purchased this headband.  I have an issue with my headband slipping and I've heard so many good things about these because they are adjustable.  So far so good!  The real test comes when I wear it to my next hot yoga class.

Aren't these bags fun?!?!  I wanted to buy more so I could get a bigger bag!  :)  I will definitely be going back!!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes

I found this link up party on another blog and wanted to join in on the fun!! Yes, I posted this recipe on Sunday...but it's close enought right?!?!

At my office, we always celebrate everyone's birthday by going out to eat and having dessert.  It was my turn to make something for my wonderful co-worker, Margaret.  She requested cupcakes so I decided to make these.  They were yummy, if I do say so myself :)

Cupcakes filled with cookie dough...YES!!!!

Here is the cookie dough filling....it was so hard to not just eat all of this by the spoonful!

*Mixer Action Shot*

I was quite excited she requested cupcakes because I have a nice little collection of cupcake liners!!!

The icing was so easy to make!  Again...I had to show a little self control and not devour this entire bowl.  It had an amazing brown sugar flavor that just melted in your mouth.  I could seriously just make this icing and have it alone!!

This is what the inside of the cookies look like when you fill them up with cookie dough.

I have to say, this was my first time trying out my fancy icing tool....a plastic baggie.  I've never done this before and it was actually pretty easy.

I also made a chocolate version of the same cupcake.  Find the recipe for that here.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes
For the Cupcakes:
3 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
4 large eggs
2 2/3 C. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 C. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 C. semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips

For the Filling:
4 T. unsalted butter, room temperature
6 T. light brown sugar, packed
1 C. plus 2 T. all-purpose flour
 7 oz. sweetened condensed milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 C. mini semisweet chocolate chips

For the Frosting:
2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
1/2 C. light brown sugar, packed
2 1/3 C. confectioners sugar
2/3 C. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 T. milk
2 tsp. vanilla extract

For Garnish:
Tiny Chocolate Chip Cookies
Mini Chocolate Chips

Cookie Dough Filling:
Combine butter and sugar and cream on med-high speed until light and fluffy - about 2 minutes.  Beat in the flour, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla until well blended and smooth.  Stir in the chocolate chips.  Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour.

Cupcakes:
Preheat oven to 350° F.  Line 2 cupcake pans with liners.  Mix together butter and brown sugar.  Beat together on med-high until light and fluffy.  Mix in eggs one at a time - mixing well after each one - scraping the sides if necessary.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.  Stir together to mix well.  Add dry ingredients to egg mixture alternating with the milk.  *The first and last addition should both be the dry ingredients.*  Mix well after each addition until just incorporated.  Blend in the vanilla and fold in chocolate chips.
Divide batter evenly between the prepared cupcake liners.  Bake for about 18-20 minutes.  Allow to cool in the pan for 7-8 minutes and then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.  Cupcake should be completely cooled before adding dough or icing.

Frosting:
Beat together the butter and brown sugar in bowl until creamy.  Mix confectioners sugar until smooth.  Beat in flour and salt.  Add in the milk and vanilla extract until smooth and well blended.

To fill the cupcakes - cut a cone-shaped area out of the center.  Fill the hole with a spoonful of the chilled cookie dough.

Frost the cupcakes as desired.  Garnish with mini chocolate chips and top with mini chocolate chip cookie.

Now get yourself to the grocery store to get the ingredients and make. these. cupcakes!!
