♥ Birthday Love - Part 2 ♥

First, I have to apologize for this incredibly long post.  I had every intention of breaking it up into 2 parts, but I didn't. :)

On the morning of my birthday I woke up to this.  Ok, first let me give you a little background.  A couple years ago, David bought me a Betsey Johnson watch in silver.  I ♥ it and have worn it so much that it is covered in scratches.  Well, lately I've been kinda partial to gold jewelry and I've been eyeing this for about 6 months now.  I'm just too cheap to buy it for myself :)  I've said I wanted it everytime we go to Dillards and David's always told me to buy it - but I never did.  Ok - I am always saying I want stuff so I just figured it goes in one ear and out of the other and he never really takes note.  When he told me he went birthday shopping for me, I wondered what he was going to get me because he never asked and I never told him anything specific.  *Secretly, I was hoping for the watch*  And that is what he got me...he is such a good gift giver.  I, unfortunately, suck at it :-(

Everyone *must* have a self portrait on their birthday so here I am ... hospital badge and all!  haha

David surprised me with these beautiful flowers!  ♥

I've never been much on celebrating my birthday.  Since I've gotten older, I'm not much on celebrating my birthday.  Not because I'm sad about getting one year older...but because I get anxiety just thinking about hosting something!!  I'm not sure why.  I actually LOVE to plan events and parties just as long as it's not for me.  I think I get anxiety thinking no one will show up to an event I plan for myself.  Gosh, that just sounds pathetic when I type it out!!  :)  When I was younger, my birthday parties were all out pool parties with all of my friends and family.  But now that I'm older and my parents don't host parties for me, I'm more than ok with going out to eat and keeping it low-key.  This year for my birthday, my Dad came up and he took David and I out to eat.  My Dad was on wheat harvest when I was born and he is almost always gone every year for my birthday.  Some years, this one being one of them, he gets done on harvest early so I get to see him.

We went to Jazmoz Bourbon St. Cafe in Bricktown - N'awlins style food.  I'd been wanting to try it forever.

We had so much food...we were miserable when we left.  This crab dip appetizer was YUMMY!!

We even had fried alligator tail!  I've had sauteed and pan-seared alligator before which was better.  The fried was a little tough.

I can't remember the name of this drink but it was delicious!  It had vanilla vodka, pineapple juice and something else in it.  And the sugar rim was pretty tasty too.

This is probably my most favorite picture of me and my Dad.  Even though he looks a little tipsy :)  He'd only had 1 margarita so maybe he was just sleepy!

*Note: These pictures were taken with my phone.
*2nd Note: This one was taken before I realized the flash needed to be on.

I realize this post is way out of chronological order but oh well...I guess it doesn't really matter.  Anyways, the day of my birthday, my Dad had came up to the city and went to my house while I was at work.  David and him hung out until I got there.  I came home to this.  1. Gigi's Cupcakes from David! 2. Bottles of wine from my Dad.  I am one lucky girl!!!

Now, back to dinner.  After we ate, we walked around Bricktown and *somehow* ended up at the Candy Company.  ;-)

Chocolate covered crickets or worms, anyone?

They even had gelato AND they were giving away free samples!!  I tried maple bacon flavor and surprisingly, it was actually really good!  Then I tried chocolate covered coffee bean and I knew David would LOVE this one so I got us a scoop to share.  Aren't I sweet??

My Dad gave me money for my birthday and I went and bought this chest that I'd been eyeing for sometime now.  I am in love with anything distressed and anything turquoise lately.  This is the best of both worlds!

I work with some pretty amazing girls and let me tell you, they SPOILED me!!  Just look at all of these gifts and gift cards AND cash!!

I used my Hobby Lobby cards on these two wall decorations for my laundry room.  I've been wanting them for a long time but I've been waiting for them to go 1/2 off.  Who buys anything at Hobby Lobby full price anymore?!?!  So, I had gift cards and they were 1/2 off!!!

I got some lotions for my desk at work because I'm kind of a lotion hoarder and I probably have about 5 lotions at my desk right now.  I should have incredibly soft hands...notice I said *should*.  I also got some cute Batman stuff and a gift card in this adorable shoe box.  For those of you that don't know, I am married to Batman.  No really, I am.

Here's what I got with my Target card.  A pretty welcome mat (turquoise, of course) and some cute notepads.

At Wal-Mart, I got Ally a frisbee because I ♥ her and she chewed her last one up.  Actually, come to think of it, this one is already chewed up too!  I also got a set of food storage containers.  Somehow, mine keep disappearing.  Someone likes to take them to work and leave them there (uh hum, David!).  These are really cool because they have little vent windows on the lids so you can microwave them with the lid on.  At Kirkland's, I got the turquoise decoration for my mantle.  Turquoise?  Distressed?  Yes, please!  I still have 1 gift card left at Kirkland's...can't wait to go back!

Two of my previous co-workers in Lawton, who just so happen to be 2 good friends, also shared some love via the Internet.  Thanks girls!  Miss you both!  And I know if my old boss (old as in previous, not old as in age - just had to clarify that) reads this blog, he will mad at me because he also sent me an e-mail to tell me happy birthday but for some reason I deleted it before I took a picture.  :-(

I was definitely spoiled this year!!  THANK YOU ALL!!

Loving Lately: My Discovery of MAC Cosmetics

I am 29 years young and I have JUST discovered MAC.  Yes, it's true.  I have apparently been living under a rock.  In a bubble.  Something!!  I ran out of foundation this weekend and decided to give it a try.  And O.M.G. I am so glad I did.  Ok - here are my face issues... 1. Oily Eyelids - eyeshadow creases within an hour...not fun. 2. Oily Face - makeup disappears and the shine is outta control...not fun either!! 3. Acne Scars - the dark spot kind...ugh!  4. Acne - why do I have acne at 29???  It just isn't fair to have to use acne treatment AND an anti-aging cream!!  I went to the MAC counter with absolutely no makeup on whatsoever....I was not lookin' pretty!  They were having a special event to market their "after hours" collection  and there was a model there with her husband who is apparently a famous NBA basketball player from the LA Clippers.  I guess I should've gotten a picture but I was more focused on getting some makeup on my fac

TRIA Hair Removal Laser

Ok...I'm just going to jump right into this.  Let's talk about hair.  I'm not talking about the hair on your head that you want people to see and love.  I'm talking about the unwanted hair that you loathe and want noone to see!  Embarrassing subject?  Yep!!  I have a medical condition called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) that has many, many side effects that makes it extremely difficult to get preggers but that's another subject we won't get into right now.  One of the most annoying effects being facial hair!!  There, I said it.  Since high school I've had to deal with this embarrassing situation.  Back then, I hated it and I would cry because I thought I was the only one dealing with this.  Now that I'm older (and wiser), I can laugh about it.  And the more I talk to people about it, the more I realize women everywhere are dealing with this "lady with the beard" issue.  I seriously could join a circus, people.  Ok, maybe it's not t
